In this Dell laptop tutorial we are going to show you how to install and replace the LCD Hinge on your Dell XPS M1530 laptop.   • 1 x small phillips head screwdriver
  • 1 x small flat head screwdriver
  • 1 x small plastic scribe

Installation and Removal Instructions
Dell XPS M1530 LCD Hinge

Slide the latch to the left and slide the battery out of the laptop.

Step 1

  • Slide the latch to the left and slide the battery out of the laptop.
Lift the door away from the laptop.

Step 2

  • Loosen the 2 communication door screws.
  • Lift the door away from the laptop.
  • Disconnect the antenna wires and pull them through the motherboard.
Lift the door away from the laptop.

Step 3

  • Loosen the 5 memory door cover screws.
  • Lift the door away from the laptop.
Under the battery, remove the (3) 2mm x 2mm wafer screws.

Step 4

  • Under the battery, remove the (3) 2mm x 2mm wafer screws.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screws on the bottom of the laptop.

Step 5

  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screws on the bottom of the laptop.
Lift the power button cover starting at the back. Work your way around the edge until it unsnaps completely.

Step 6

  • Turn the laptop over and open the display.
  • Lift the power button cover starting at the back. Work your way around the edge until it unsnaps completely.
Turn the power button cover over to expose the ribbon cable and unplug it.

Step 7

  • Turn the power button cover over to expose the ribbon cable and unplug it.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws.

Step 8

  • To remove the power button ribbon cable you will have to loosen the keyboard.
  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws. To remove the power button ribbon cable you will have to loosen the keyboard.
Unplug the ribbon cable.

Step 9

  • Carefully lift the keyboard up and slide it forward to reveal the ribbon cable latch.
  • Unplug the ribbon cable.
Lift the hinge covers off of the laptop.

Step 10

  • Slide the left and right hinge covers to the outside of the laptop.
  • Lift the hinge covers off of the laptop.
Disconnect and loosen the display cable, camera cable, and antenna wires.

Step 11

  • Disconnect and loosen the display cable, camera cable, and antenna wires.
Lift the display away from the laptop base.

Step 12

  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 8mm Hinge screws.
  • Lift the display away from the laptop base.
Work your way around the bezel until the bezel comes loose.

Step 13

  • Carefully place your finger under the edge of the bezel and lift it up to unsnap it.
  • Work your way around the bezel until the bezel comes loose.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws at the bottom of the screen.

Step 14

  • Remove the (4) 2.5mm x 5mm screws at the top of the screen.
  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws at the bottom of the screen.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws at the bottom of the screen. Remove the (4) 2.5mm x 5mm screws at the top of the screen.
Turn the screen over.

Step 15

  • Lift the screen out of the LCD back assembly.
  • Turn the screen over.
  • Unplug the LCD cable from the back of the screen and the inverter.
Remove the (2) 2mm x 3mm screws.

Step 16

  • Unplug the camera cable.
  • Remove the (2) 2mm x 3mm screws.
Remove the (2) 2mm x 3mm screws. Unplug the camera cable.
Remove the camera cable from the back cover.

Step 17

  • Remove the camera cable from the back cover.
The remaining piece is the LCD Back Cover Assembly.

Step 18

  • The remaining piece is the LCD Back Cover Assembly.
Unscrew the 2.5mm x 5mm screw in the left hinge.

Step 19

  • Unscrew the 2.5mm x 5mm screw in the right hinge.
  • Unscrew the 2.5mm x 5mm screw in the left hinge.
Unscrew the 2.5mm x 5mm screw in the left hinge. Unscrew the 2.5mm x 5mm screw in the right hinge.
