If your mobile technology outlook lends itself to the idea that smaller is almost always better, your choices in ultra-mobile, miniature LED projectors are expanding at just about the speed of light. Business travelers and gadget-lovers may now feel free to unite in celebration. Let's take a look at two worthy contenders.
Acer C120 LED Pico Projector
The Acer C120 LED pico projector, weighs in at just over 6 ounces, with a footprint of 3.23x4.72x1.0 inches, which means the only thing you may have to leave at home is your pet hamster. The 20,000-hour LED lights up instantly, and the unit is plug-and-play compatible, with no need to install drivers; somewhat like your hamster.
This puppy, or uhhh, hamster replacement, can be powered directly from a notebook's USB 3.0 port, but loses 25% of its sparkle when doing so, with a drop from 100 ANSI lumens down to 75, if you choose to leave the power cord at home. The contrast ratio is 1,000:1 and your projection screen or area, can be as close as about 16 inches, or as far away as 12 feet. Native resolution is 854x480 and its maximum resolution is 1,280x800. Supported aspect ratios include: 16:10, 16:9, and 4:3. USB 3.0 connectivity increases data transfer speeds as much as 10 times faster than traditional USB 2.0 for improved image quality.

Dell M110 Ultra Mobile LED Projector
Some pico projectors on the market can only say they "coulda been a contender", but the Dell M110 ultra mobile projector throws a serious punch, beaming 300 ANSI lumens, and weighing in at 12.8 ounces. It's short like that other guy, but a bit stouter, with a footprint of 4.1x4.1x1.4 inches. That's approximately the footprint of two packs of playing cards side-by-side. Native resolution is 1,280x800, and contrast ratio is 10,000:1, with projection distances of 3.2 to 8.5 feet, and an aspect ratio of 16:10.
Connectivity options include VGA, HDMI and USB inputs, A/V in, and a 24-pin Universal I/O connector for analog RGB input. The M110 has 1GB of internal memory which can be augmented with a 32GB microSD card slot.
A bit of sound beats many of the speaker-less types on the market, and this one does have a 1W speaker, allowing for music files to be played in WMA, MP1, MP2, and MP3 formats. JPG and BMP image files are supported, as well as WMV, MOV, AVI, and MP4 video files.
Options include a wireless dongle, a credit card-sized remote control, and a miniature height adjustable tripod.
The technical data has the referee calling a TKO (Technical Knock Out), with the Dell M110 ultra mobile projector still standing tall. Maybe it was the tripod.
