Sparkle may be an understatement when describing Mohamed's and Majdy's collection of USB flash drives. Nor can one refer to it as USBling. Shawish is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Shawish Magic Mushroom USB flash drives have stems made of 18K gold, with the head of the fungus consisting of diamonds, sapphires or rubies. The technical specs are simple; expect only 32GB of memory.
On the exterior, if white gold, with emeralds and white diamonds are desired, expect a price of $36,900. If yellow gold, rubies and white diamonds are the key, the cost is $24,400. For a few dollars less, one can pay $16,500, and take home a mushroom-shaped USB pendant in pink gold covered with pink sapphires and white diamonds. The weight of the stones will range from 9.18 carats to 11.34 carats in total.
Brothers Majdy Shawesh and Mohamed Shawesh co-serve as the brand's CEO and President. According to their online brochure: "Under the direction of its powerful artistic and creative force, Shawish is the result of years of planning and an intense interest in the diamond industry."
One of Mohamed's and Majdy's attention getting products was the world's first $70-million, all-diamond 150-carat ring, made entirely of a faceted diamond, and cut with a laser. Their online video and brochure both feature the date "12.12.12".
Considering the price of their all-diamond ring, the price of those USB mushroom pendants may be mere pocket-change for some of their customers. To revise an old saying, perhaps $37,000 USB drives are for those with more money than USBs.
