Hey guys! Daria Here! CES has obviously been top in tech news this week, and from what I can see and read, it has been an exciting week for the tech world. From Samsung and LG showing off their products like curved TVS and Intel's new Edison chip, hundreds of companies set out their booths.
When I think about CES, the Consumer Electronics Show might be pushing it. What I mean by this is as consumers, we enjoy incremental upgrades. It is almost like something to look forward to, at a healthy pace. Everything shown at CES is always going to be a bit more extravagant than the average consumer can buy, so is it just a "show"? That is an argument I will leave up in the air. Many people enjoy seeing technology innovate, and what better time and place than the beginning of each new year at an electronics show. Sure you may not be able to afford a drone or a 4K television set. But, seeing the power of innovation is still remarkable. Plus, there are always little gadgets out there too!
The most exciting things I have seen have been computer chips. Now we are really going somewhere! Everyone expected NVIDIA to unveil the Tegra 5 (or the like). Instead the company surprised us with the K1, an incredibly powerful mobile processor with 192 cores, and the potential to bring console level games with amazingly realistic graphics to mobile devices.
Speaking of computing, while Intel didn't even have a booth at CES this year they announced their new Edison computer. The size of an SD card, the Edison has the processing power and tiny size to assist the wearables industry greatly.
The Pebble Steel, which I am not gonna lie, is far better looking than its first child, is ready for the business suit now. They are stainless steel, same display, functionality, and buttons you're used to for the most part. However, this time you get twice as much memory and 10 percent lighter. The unfortunate part is the cost went up 100 bux!
Finally, 'What The Tech' this week includes Snapchat's apology for breaching information for over half of their customers. Intel, after owning McAfee since 2010, has decided to finally merge and rid themselves of the McAfee name. Also, I had to let you all know about a new 3D printing technology, contour crafting, in which an entire house can be built in 24 hours.
