E49- Galaxy Glass, Intel’s Jarvis, Nintendo, Apple’s Latest, Sony Gadget | Red Headed Geek Show

This week, Samsung announced plans on designing their very own Galaxy Glass. It is supposedly going to mimic its Galaxy Gear watches, but with HUD! Go Samsung! Google glass can't be the only pair of computers on our faces on the market! Plus, I also heard the two just announced a patent and cross-licensing deal!

In similar news, Thanks to Intel, we might have our very own “Jarvis” (Iron Man?). Jarvis will be a computer like Siri or Google’s voice recognition software that will apparently react to us like actual humans! Faster and more accurate than ever! How? Without the use of cloud!

Another quick news update has to do with another new 3D printer! Admit it, we love 3D printing but, sometimes, it's just an expensive way to make very cheap plastic trinkets. However, with carbon fiber instead of plastics, the Mark One 3D printer is revolutionizing what we can print on desktop! It could be the latest printing technique for important items, from prosthetics, to drones.

Apple new is as follows. Everyone is officially mourning the loss of the iPod. After 12 years, Apple is discontinuing them. According to sales in the first quarter of 2013, Apple sold a mere 12 million while this quarter (how is this a quarter already), only 6 million. Of course, that is no where near good enough for Apple. But I get it, and iPods cost too much; especially when people use their smartphones for music now anyways.

Also, is the iPhone plummeting in sales? A quick look at global smartphone shipment tracking makes it look like iPhone sales are doing horrid in comparison. Because this particular chart, made by Mashable, is not accounting for all models released by each company, I don't find these figures to be accurate.

Anyone hear about Sony's latest beautiful piece of machinery? The Spa-Ta1 is a camera lens add-on device compatible with any tablet. Last September, Sony had this lens type camera attachment for smartphones. The device is supposed to encourage you to take pics with your tablet, something that has been seen as quite unpopular. Hence, I am not sure what Sony was thinking by releasing this gadget.

We all know Nintendo has taken a variety of hits lately, heck, even the company's CEO took a pay cut. Yet anyone hoping Nintendo would unveil some sort of magic bullet to cure their woes, might end up very disappointed. Instead, Nintendo, might end up going a route that seems rather pathetic, finally giving in to the idea of applying their games onto smartphones and tablets. Nintendo’s CEO said “Nowadays people want to play everything on smartphones and tablets, it doesn't have to be a game-only device." I feel like this man couldn't be more wrong.

Updates from today's news give "hope" that Nintendo will still be focusing much attention on consoles. However, it looks like they will still be looking into smartphone and tablet applications. Additionally, Nintendo also just announced two other things. They plan on adding DS games to the Wii U, and have plans for a third platform, Wii Fit U, in order to "focus on health".
