Cuff Is One Smart Bracelet That Won’t Cramp Your Style

CuffLink2Forget the chunkiness, bright colors, or the overall “nerdy” appearance of your average smart wearable. The next item in this growing market is elegant tech jewelry. Cuff founder Deepa Sood, developed her own jewelry line that smartly works with a pop-out Bluetooth piece. An interchangeable module actually, “CuffLinc” can fit into a variety of accessories and designs. Still, whether you’re wearing a bracelet or a necklace, Cuff still does one thing, protects you.

CuffLink1Cuff is designed to alert those dearest to you of where you are. It’s more or less a personal security system, yet compatible with your daily style. It also works as a panic button if you squeeze it. Thanks to CuffLinc’s connectivity to smartphones, your exact location can be sent to pre-approved contacts in your Cuff network with a ping. That ping will show your exact location to those who may need it. The small tracker offers Bluetooth 4.0, GPS tracking, compatibility with an iOS app, and battery said to last for a year.

Whether you decide to go for a run and want your husband to know where you are, or that walk in the parking lot after work feels a bit creepy, you simply squeeze the piece of jewelry. But Cuff isn’t always a panic button. The reason to ping your contact may be as simple as you needing them to get in touch with you. Cuff even persistently contacts these loved ones until someone responds. It is important to mention that the CuffLinc can only be swapped between the jewelry (nine pieces) in Cuff’s initial jewelry assortment. It, sadly, can not be worn with any accessory you own.

Also a very simple device, Cuff says “there will be more applications for it in the future”. This could mean CuffLinc may be able to do many things any Bluetooth connected smart wearable could, such as skip songs on a play list, or control your phone’s camera shutter. Currently compatible with iOS only, Android is said for future release. Prices range by jewelry item, but luckily the CuffLinc is included if you pre-order, with shipments late this year.
