Most of our orders are from repeat customers. Parts-People began as a small company 20 years ago in an extra bedroom of my house. I had saved a small sum of money to purchase some computer parts and began selling them on eBay. After a few months I realized that people needed a place to go for Dell parts so I began building our website. Since we are located in Austin, Texas, where Dell.com was founded, I was able to set up a solid supply line with Dell. From the start, we focused on customer satisfaction and selling quality parts. We have grown a lot since 2002 but still and always the customer will come first. You will find that we go above and beyond with every order and offer free resources and support before and after the sale.

With the possible exception of the Moto 360, the majority of the smart wearables we’ve seen over the last few years, especially the smartwatches, have been sort of clunky and lacking in posh. Which makes sense if you think about it – technology companies like Apple and Android are obviously more focused on what their gadgets can do than how they look. HP, however, has now formed what seems to be a fairly ideal partnership with American designer Michael Bastian to handle the look and style of their first smartwatch; leaving HP responsible for fitting the guts of the gadget into the stylish design. The tech giant told Fashionista this week that they instigated the unlikely partnership by reaching out to online retailer Gilt with the idea of working with a fashion designer to take a new approach to smartwatch design. Gilt then brought Bastian on board, and if the sketches we’re seeing so far are any indication, that may have been the recipe for chic, smart success.
Designer Michael Bastian says that he took cues from luxury automobiles when designing the HP smartwatch; most notably luxury interior features like the dashboard and trim. So far we know that his design will feature a circular 44mm stainless steel case, inlaid button controls and distinctive bezel bolts. Wearers can take their pick from three swappable band options: a sporty black rubber, classic brown leather, and a durable olive green nylon. According to the rumor mill, there will also be a “limited edition black” (no word yet on what exactly that will look like). Lastly, a lit chronograph rounds out the theme of luxury car-inspired design elements.
As for HP’s end, so far we know that the watch will be compatible with both Android and iOS. HP will be supplying the software for the watch, meaning it may be platform agnostic and not tied to popular existing platforms like Android Wear. We do know that the watch’s features will include notifications like email, text and calls, along with user controls for music and other apps. Adding durability to style, HP’s smartwatch will be water-resistant and is said to have a power reserve of up to seven days (pretty impressive for a smartwatch).
All in all, this is not a bad first outing for HP in the smartwatch category. No details on pricing have been released for the stylish gadget yet, but you can stay on top of updates as they come through Gilt’s teaser page. The as-yet-unnamed smartwatch is anticipated to go on sale exclusively through Gilt this fall.
