Motorcyclists have been enthusiastic about the helmet since the Skully website launched late last year. A mailing list of over 145,000 curious riders have awaited its release. Luckily, Skully is now taking pre-orders on Indiegogo, with an introductory price of $1,399 and shipments in May. After that, prices will rise to $1,499, (about the same as a pair of Google Glass). Skully AR-1 is Department of Transportation (DOT) and UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) certified, meaning it has been deemed as safe for road use and head protection. Skully also offers an open SDK for those who are interested in developing apps for Skully Synapse.
