While the device is undeniably Samsung, it’s a tablet built for reading first. It includes an app called the “Barnes & Noble Advantage”, which allows for book downloads as well as tech support. The Nook software is layered into the tablet, meaning it will come loaded with Nook Newsstand for magazines, Nook apps, and Nook Video for movie/TV purchases and rentals. Barnes & Noble says its store offers more than 3 million books, a number of popular comic books and graphic novels, and over 9,000 children’s books. And to get you started, they have included $200 worth of free content including best-sellers like Freakonomics, The Wanderer, and I Am Number Four; a free episode of HBO’s Veep, NBC Universal’s Hannibal, and BBC America’s Orphan Black; and up to four 14-day free trial magazine subscriptions. Plus, each buyer gets a $5 credit to the Nook Store with purchase, as well as access to Free Fridays which offers a free Nook book, video or app each week.
