Most of our orders are from repeat customers. Parts-People began as a small company 20 years ago in an extra bedroom of my house. I had saved a small sum of money to purchase some computer parts and began selling them on eBay. After a few months I realized that people needed a place to go for Dell parts so I began building our website. Since we are located in Austin, Texas, where Dell.com was founded, I was able to set up a solid supply line with Dell. From the start, we focused on customer satisfaction and selling quality parts. We have grown a lot since 2002 but still and always the customer will come first. You will find that we go above and beyond with every order and offer free resources and support before and after the sale.

New York startup, Quirky, is teaming with General Electric to release a lineup of connected home products. Quirky hopes to provide inspiration for future inventors via partner, Wink, a Quirky spin off company that helps bring innovative ideas to market. Originally known for its signature smart light bulb, Quirky and GE will now be offering devices across the smart home spectrum; from energy consumption, moisture levels, motion detection, to temperature, all at reasonable prices and “Wink compatible”.
Highlighted at the conference was Norm, the “death to the thermostat” device, which actually is a thermostat, but one that controls your home’s temperature by reacting to other sensors in the house. As Norm communicates with other smart devices in your home, its intelligence grows, increasing its reactivity to temperature, humidity, and energy savings. It can also cool down certain areas of the home by learning when you are in them, similar to way the Ecobee 3 works. Norm only costs $80.
Among the other new releases, there is Tripper, a window and door sensor for home security; Overflow, a water sensor that uses a moisture detection sensor; Outlink, a smart outlet to monitor energy consumption; Spotter UNIQ, a built-to-order home sensor; Ascend, a smart garage door that allows access to friends or family; and Tapt, a light switch that provides touch access to all smart home devices via Wink. Besides the $90 Ascend, all of these products are under $60. Quirky devices can link up to your smartphone, but will soon be paired with the Wink Relay touchscreen control panel or Wink HUB, as soon as they are available.
The cool thing about Quirky is its dedication to people with even the craziest ideas. According to Engadget, “all of Quirky’s products were born from ideas submitted by the Quirky community”. The family of Quirky products are all practical, affordable, and simple integrations for making a fully connected home, an idea that has thus far seemed inaccessible for the average person. Quirky founder Ben Kaufman explained, (smart) lightbulbs are “the gateway drug to the smart home”, and, if these devices become popular and lose their intimidation effect, Quirky might just prove this to be true.
