I am not a fan of clutter. However, I will admit the number of remotes on my coffee table has increased like a family over the years. But that's the image of the common household, especially as we grow more accustomed to smartening up our homes with the latest tech. A company called Eyesight is launching a new gesture-controlled system to give you control of all your devices with simple hand movements. OneCue, which syncs with smart device brands like Nest and Apple TV, gives you command over all of your TVs, game consoles, media players, and set-top boxes. Think of it as a universal remote, but one that you can't possibly lose. You wouldn't loose your own hand, would you?

Similar to how the Xbox Kinect functions, OneCue uses various hand signals for each command. My favorite is the “mute” command, where the user holds their finger to their lips, as if they’re making the “shushing” gesture. Customizing your command settings is simple with OneCue's iOS or Android app. A good idea for booting up the entertainment system would be for OneCue to simultaneously turn on the TV, set-top box, and stereo all with a single wave.

OneCue, measuring 9.2 inches long, 11 inches deep, and 1.9 inches tall, is essentially digital camera that sports an electronic eye to see your movements. Clipped to the top of your television or propped up on a shelf, OneCue sports a 3-inch LCD screen, where an icon for whatever device you're controlling is displayed. It houses also a Micro-USB port, IR transmitter and receiver, speaker, as well as
Bluetooth 4.0 (Cnet).

The touch-free interface is the best way to consolidate control of our tech driven homes. The company's vision is best put by Eyesight CEO Gideon Shmuel who says,

“Every device in our homes, from the TV, to the games console, to the thermostat, has its own control system and remotes, cables or apps for operation, resulting in lots of clutter and fragmentation. To solve this problem, we developed OneCue to bring together all these devices through a natural, easy-to-use interface that leverages our years of experience in gesture recognition technology to let you experience your home through your fingertips”

OneCue will run for $199 and come out sometime early 2015, but if you are interested in an early bird discount, you can pre-order the device for $129 on the company website.
