Lenovo’s A7000 Boasts Android Lollipop, Features Dolby Atmos Technology

LenovoA7000Chinese manufacturer Lenovo has a released new low budget smartphone. It's called the A7000, and no, you're not having deja vu. The low budget 4G A6000 was in fact released a couple of short months back. Looks like the company really wants to gain a presence throughout the world, and with the A7000, Lenovo brought some advanced features that might just do the trick.

It's successor may cost a little more than the A6000, but it also went through some upgrades, the first being a bigger screen. Previously measured at 5 inches, the new A7000 now has a 5.5-inch HD screen at 720p. The design is light weight at just 140 grams, and sports a simple all-plastic design. If you’re not into looks, this shouldn't be a problem for you. It's not boring, but not beautiful.

LenovoA7000-1Software includes Lenovo's Vibe UI, which is nothing too new, but it comes with a custom OS built on Android Lollipop, which reportedly supports smooth animations (Times of India). It runs a 1.5GHz octa core Mediatek MT6752m processor, Mali-T760MP2 GPU (perfect for gamers), 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage (expandable up to 32GB via micro SD) (Custom Today). The camera sports 8 megapixels on the back, and 5 megapixels on the front.

Finally, media playback is a delight. The A7000 is the first smartphone to use Dolby Atmos technology, which allows its audio to follow objects, give surround sound on an X and Y axis, providing an overall immersive audio experience to the user. Obviously, headphones are necessary.

LenovoA7000-2Both the display and performance levels aren't too remarkable to jump for joy. But, it gives just enough oomph to watch movies and other video content, plus that added bonus of Dolby Atmos must be a treat. At just $169, I would say there shouldn't be too much to complain about. It's pretty much on par for the price, and could give competitors like what we're seeing from Xiaomi, a run for their money.
