Wear a Smartwatch That Powers All Your Devices with Neptune Suite

NeptuneSuite031815Neptune, the company behind the Neptune Pine smartwatch that ran independently from a smartphone, is trying something new and very ambitious. Neptune Pine didn't do well in the long run, probably because of its bulky and ungainly appearance in a market of sleek and small competitors. It was more of an early adopter's delight. Neptune's new project, the Neptune Suite, is currently on Indiegogo seeking funding for its all-in-one syncing machine.

NeptuneSuite031815-1Neptune Suite actually comes one month after Neptune announced Neptune Duo, a dual-device including a Hub- a wrist worn computer with a 2.4-inch touchscreen, that could independently run Android Lollipop, and a smartphone-sized (5-inch) display that you could put in your pocket. Neptune Suite is essentially a bunch of mobile devices to go along with the Hub (The Next Web).

NeptuneSuite031815-2These include a 10-inch Tab Screen, a tablet-like device that makes browsing the interwebs more enjoyable (if you don't mind carrying it around); or Neptune Keys, a keyboard that can go along with the Tab Screen for a full-on laptop or PC experience. The last part of the Suite is an HDMI Dongle that, like all the others, simply slides into the back of your HDTV (Engadget). All of these devices are said to seamlessly sync and stream with the smartwatch Hub on your wrist.

This seems like a lot of components to be responsible for, and I am just talking the Neptune Duo right now. How many people will want to wear a chunky plastic computer Hub on their wrist, but also have to lug around a screen that connects to the Hub? The smartphone component might be a little silly, but when it comes to the Tab, Keys, and Dongle, those items are actually intriguing. Because all the Suite items don't need their own computing hardware, they just function via the Hub, purchasing each is cheaper than going out and buying a Kindle, or Chromecast. When you think about it that way, this is actually a pretty cool set up. How cheap is it? The project is on Indiegogo, with early-bird prices at just $599, for the entire Suite! The final price will be closer to $950, so if you like this bundle idea, and don't already have a tablet, dongle, and mobile keyboard, I'd say this is perfect for gadget virgins.
