When you think of a tablet, don't you picture a 7-or-so inch device that you can pick up and use for casual browsing, social media, and email? Then we have hybrid/convertible laptops which can function as both a tablet and a regular laptop. Well, Lenovo made something kind of in between all of that. It's a large-screened tablet, dubbed the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, with a whopping 13-inch display so even movie watching could be enjoyable. But wait, there's more. The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro comes with a built-in projector, a subwoofer, and an interesting kickstand. But of course, looks can be deceiving.

Let's cut to the chase. There's mixed reviews all around the board for this thing. Reasons being, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro's snap-on keyboard contains an unstable hinge. It also lacks a bunch of connectivity that you'll want. It's important details like this that we quickly forget about a fancy projector and subwoofer. I did read that this particular tablet does have some versatility going for it. Besides its huge display, which makes it almost laptop-able, its flip-out kickstand is super neat if you're just sipping on some coffee and want to read some news.

Anyone who is a business person or whose lifestyle requires a device that has more function, I wouldn't recommend this. That being said, let's take a look at the design. It's not very well thought out, and according to Android Police, “screams budget”. It has a strange light aluminum skin that doesn't seem to make sense, because yes, it's all plastic underneath. It measures 331.9 x 223.7mm, and weighs 2.09 pounds, making it one heck of a large tablet, if not the largest on the market right now. Its 13.3-inch LCD screen with 2560 x 1440 pixels is definitely a positive thing, especially if you want to take advantage of some video watching here. However, consider the 18mm bezels on such a large device and you'll wonder if Lenovo is trying to end the slim bezel trend (if they are, they shouldn't).

It contains an rear-facing 8MP camera, a 1.6MP front facing camera, and an integrated projector at up to 50 inches. Not sure why Lenovo did this, especially at a lower resolution than 854 x 580 (that's worse than a tablet screen, and far weaker brightness than a standard projector). Trying to up the speakers ante was for some reason a priority for Lenovo here. As part of a partnership with JBL, subwoofers are integrated in the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro. Bummer that they apparently aren't any better than regular laptop speakers, as various reviews have reported.

Connectivity includes USB 2.0, microSD (only), SIM card slot (?), and a headphone jack. Finally, it comes with 32GB of storage, runs on an Intel Atom Processor with 4GB of RAM, and contains a 9600mAh battery that does it some justice (and is also responsible for that cylindrical edge).

It's price might seem affordable when comparing it to similar machines, such as the Surface Pro 3, or Asus Transformer Book T200. But at $599, could its projector and subwoofer provide enough incentive to overlook such design flaw? I would have to say no, considering both of those lil' extras weren't built on quality. Nice try, I guess, Lenovo.
