LG’s High-End V10 Smartphone with Auxiliary Ticker Display

LgV10SmartphoneThe idea of secondary, ticker-like displays may sound alien to us, but the concept has already been demonstrated. So far, Samsung tried out the idea on both its Continuum, and Galaxy Note Edge smartphones, but we haven't seen much elsewhere. That's about to change, as LG decided to test the V10, its smartphone that sports a notification ticker display at the top.

LgV10Smartphone1Since the spec list has yet to be updated by LG, we are to go off of probable rumors, as well as known Twitter “leaker” Evan Bass, who “claims the V10 is even more powerful than the (LG) G4. Said to measure 5.7 inches across, with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution Quad HD screen, multiple sources report that the LG V10 will be fitted using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 system-on-a-chip (SoC), 3GB of RAM, and 64GB of expandable storage via microSD slot.

The ticker will be featured at the top of the display (for anyone who hasn't seen the Samsung Continuum, its ticker was at the bottom), and will be used to show notifications, texts, emails, social media updates, and more without having to fully power up the display. The ticker is located near the device's two camera modules, of which feature 16 megapixels in the rear-facing camera and 5 megapixels in the front-facing camera. It is unknown what type of battery will be powering the V10, but because the ticker display was designed to save the device time and energy, it should help some with its over all battery life. Prices are unknown, but LG says the V10 is expected to launch in October.
