Lenovo Aims to Please with the Yoga 700, a High Performing, Portable Laptop

LenovoYoga700After weeks of drooling over the new Microsoft Surface Book, it would be refreshing to hear about a nice new affordable laptop. Looks like Lenovo’s got that for you, in both its 11-inch and 14-inch Windows 10 Yoga 700s, starting at just $649. Mirroring what you might have enjoyed about the Lenovo Yoga 900, which probably included its Intel 6th Gen Core processor and amazingly thin 15mm frame, the 700 series isn’t too fancy, but it’s great for the average “budgeteer”.

LenovoYoga700-1Both the 11-inch and 14-inch models come with a 1080p touchscreen display featuring 10-point multitouch support. If you’re comparing the personalities of the two laptops, consider the 11-inch Lenovo Yoga 700 you’re outgoing, free-spirited best friend; someone you strive to be. The 2-in-1 laptop is super sleek at 15.8mm, and while weighing just 2.43 pounds, this is the perfect on-the-go, light workload kind of device. Inside, it houses an Intel Core m5-6Y54 processor, a 256GB Samsung SSD, and 8GB of DDR3L RAM (SlashGear). Starting at $649, it comes running Windows 10, and will give you about 8 hours of battery life before needing a recharge.

LenovoYoga700-2Now imagine the toughest, most badass friend you have, and you get the Lenovo Yoga 700 14-inch laptop. This is when comparisons to the hulk Yoga 900 come in. This thing is rich with specs, housing an Intel Core i5 or i7 chip, an Nvidia GeForce 940M graphics card, up to 256GB of SSD storage, and 8GB of RAM (Tech Radar). If you’re wondering where the downgrade comes in, this thing isn’t made of beautiful magnesium, but rather wrapped in a plastic, and a less-sophisticated hinge. Unfortunately battery life isn’t currently pinned down. If that doesn’t matter to you, and you’re geared more towards a heavy workload, this model is probably for you. This 14-inch variant starts at just $799.

Both models will sport an ergonomically designed AccuType backlit keyboard, and an awesome set of Dolby DS1.0 Home Theatre speakers. Unveiling the Yoga 700 convertibles was Lenovo’s way of saying “Here’s something for everyone”, in terms of performance and affordability. Johnson Jia, Senior Vice President of Lenovo’s PC Business Group says, “We know fast performance, easy portability, and rich sound and display are features consumers expect in a laptop today.”, and that is the quality you are basically getting for the price of a standard laptop.
