There’s nothing new about Lenovo’s ThinkPad lineup. We know the business and enterprise-oriented laptop line has been around for almost forever (at least 15 years), but Lenovo recently decided to bring on some changes. The new T-Series, the T450 and T450s, will be succeeding the T440 and T440s laptops released in 2013, in efforts to fix their disappointments (including their one-piece touchpads, puny SSD capacity, and lack of HDMI), while offering more power (PC Mag).

We’ll be focusing on the T450s, which is simply a lighter version of the T450, but still doesn’t make this your typical ultra-thin notebook. Measuring .83in x 13in x 9in and weighing 3.5 pounds, the notebook also has a 1920 x 1080 resolution, and In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel for brighter colors and better viewing angles. It’s rugged enough to pass MIL-SPEC 810G specifications, meaning it can withstand some rough conditions and tumbles, and even survive a spill on the keyboard. The screen tilts back 180 degrees, and touch sensitivity on its 10-point multi-touchscreen is “excellent”, according to PC Mag.

The Lenovo T450s is packed with Intel’s 5th generation Core i5-5300U processor. Add that to the company’s very own PowerBridge technology, and you get a battery “bumped up to a massive 72 watt-hours with the 3-cell +6-cell option, making them some of the longest lasting laptops in their class”. Depending on configuration, RAM options range from 4GB, plus one DIMM slot that can give you up to 16GB of DDR3L. Storage is handled via mechanical drives of up to 1TB. There are 3 USB 3.0 ports, a Mini DisplayPort, Smart Card reader slot, SD card reader, VGA, headset, and a power port (An And Tech).

Sure, you could find a much lighter business laptop from Lenovo, but then you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the long battery life, 5th-gen CPU, and extra pretty touchscreen. The new T-Series isn’t supposed to be a big redo, as Lenovo only tweaked the areas that needed tweaking. But you can make the configuration as simple or extreme as you want it. Just know, all of that is going to come at a price (the T450s starts at $880 and easily jumps to $1,550). The ThinkPad lineup has been a recipe for success since its launch. As a brand that has defined mainstream business laptops and ultra-portables, Lenovo aims to please in the department of time-saving functionality. This new line of ThinkPads will surely continue to fulfill the needs of business professionals.
