  • 1 x small plastic scribe

Installation and Removal Instructions
XPS 17-L701X (P09E001) Motherboard

Slide the battery latch over.

Step 1

  • Slide the battery latch over.
  • Remove the Battery.
Slide the battery latch over.Remove the Battery.
Loosen the screw.

Step 2

Loosen the screw.Remove the Access Door.
Separate the clips.

Step 3

Separate the clips.Remove the RAM Memory.
Remove the hard drive screws.

Step 4

  • Remove the hard drive screws.
  • Slide the hard drive down and remove the Hard Drive.
Remove the hard drive screws.Slide the hard drive down and remove the Hard Drive.
Remove the hard drive screws.

Step 5

  • Remove the hard drive screws.
  • Slide the hard drive over and remove the Hard Drive.
Remove the hard drive screws.Slide the hard drive over and remove the Hard Drive.
Remove the screw.

Step 6

Remove the screw.Slide the DVD Optical Drive out of the laptop.
Remove the 3 screws under the optical drive.

Step 7

  • Remove the 3 screws under the optical drive.
  • Press the plastic retainer in the optical drive bay.
Remove the 3 screws under the optical drive.Press the plastic retainer in the optical drive bay.
Remove the bottom display screws.

Step 8

  • Remove the bottom display screws.
Remove the screws at the top of the base.

Step 9

  • Remove the screws at the top of the base.
  • Remove the screws under the battery.
  • Remove the screws under the access door.

Remove the SD card blank.

Step 10

  • Remove the SD card blank.

Turn the laptop over and open it up.

Step 11

  • Turn the laptop over and open it up.
  • Unsnap the palmrest and turn it over.
  • Unplug the palmrest cables.
  • Remove the Palmrest Touchpad.
Turn the laptop over and open it up.Unsnap the palmrest and turn it over.
Lift the keyboard up and turn it over.

Step 12

  • Lift the keyboard up and turn it over.
  • Unplug the keyboard cables.
  • Remove the Keyboard.
Unplug the antenna cables.

Step 13

Unplug the antenna cables.Remove the screw.Remove the Wireless WLAN Card.
Loosen the display cable screw.

Step 14

  • Loosen the display cable screw.
  • Unplug the display cable.
Loosen the display cable screw.Unplug the display cable.
Remove the left hinge screws.

Step 15

Remove the left hinge screws.Remove the right hinge screws.Remove the LCD Display Assembly.
Remove the screws under the palmrest.

Step 16

  • Remove the screws under the palmrest.
Unplug the sub-woofer cable.

Step 17

Unplug the sub-woofer cable.Remove the Bottom Base.
Unplug the cable.

Step 18

  • Unplug the cable.
  • Remove the screw.
  • Remove the DC Jack.
Unplug the cable.Remove the screw.Remove the DC Jack.
Unplug the fan.

Step 19

  • Unplug the fan.
  • Remove the screws.
  • Remove the Cooling Fan.
Unplug the fan.Remove the screws.Remove the Cooling Fan.
Loosen the heatsink screws.

Step 20

  • Loosen the heatsink screws.
  • Remove the Heatsink.
Loosen the heatsink screws.Remove the Heatsink.
Installation note 1: Make sure to replace thermal compound or thermal pads on the CPU and heatsink.

Step 21

  • Installation note 1: Make sure to replace thermal compound or thermal pads on the CPU and heatsink.
  • Installation note 2: Tighten the heatsink screws in the order listed on the heatsink.
Turn the CPU locking screw counterclockwise 180 degrees.

Step 22

  • Turn the CPU locking screw counterclockwise 180 degrees.
  • Remove the CPU Processor.

Turn the base over and unplug the USB cable.

Step 23

  • Turn the base over and unplug the USB cable.
  • Unplug the speaker cable.
Turn the base over and unplug the USB cable.Unplug the speaker cable.
Turn the base over.

Step 24

  • Turn the base over.
  • Remove the screws.
  • Remove the Circuit Board.
Turn the base over.Remove the screws.
Remove the motherboard screw.

Step 25

Remove the motherboard screw.Remove the Motherboard.
