Dell “brought it” when it comes to hardware. Processing power has been bumped to Intel’s latest, housing a seventh gen quad-core i5-7300HQ processor. On the other hand, Apple has the upper hand by housing a higher level ( i7) Intel chip, with the addition of Turbo Boost. Still, Apple doesn’t offer Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 GPU, or the lovely 32GB of DDR4 memory! In fact, listen closely enough, and you can hear Apple fans screaming at the MacBook Pro’s limited 16GB of RAM. There’s a ton of other storage on the XPS 15, including a 500GB or 1TB hard drive, paired up with an M.2 drive using Intel’s Smart Response Technology, or an M.2 PCIe SSD in 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB options. Other advancements from last year’s XPS 15 include a Thunderbolt 3 port (in addition to the full-sized HDMI port from before), two USB Type A ports at 3Gbps, and an SD card reader. And, because the laptop sports the legacy barrel charger, users don’t lose a port when charging it.
Although this isn’t literature addressing that Dell is the official leader in the tournament among Apple’s close competitors. However, in consideration of the oh-so expensive MacBook Pro, Dell produces a highly distinguishable alternative, and price points are important. Apple products have always been some of the priciest out there, hence the $2,399 MacBook Pro’s questionable value. Its extravagance creates the need for a good alternative. Hence, the perfect timing of the Dell XPS 15-9560, which starts at just $999.
