MSI’s GS63VR Stealth Pro- a Lightweight Speedy Gaming Laptop That’s Going to Make Waves

The word has been spread, and right off the bat, “MSI’s updated GS63VR makes a big leap up in the gaming laptop food chain”. More words we’re hearing are that the slim and attractive new Stealth Pro by MSI has a solid CPU performance, a slew of ports (refreshing), and a graphics card that won’t force you to sacrifice your resolution (meaning you can expect gorgeous gaming resolution at 1080p). Another thing this gaming laptop won’t force you to do is stay home. It’s portability is astonishing, allowing the unique (and so strived for) balance of motility and performance in a gaming laptop to be one, at peace. Yay for peace.

That’s what is going to really blow the lid off this thing, you know, once consumers see it to believe it? Beyond it being the first laptop to utilize Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1060, as well as the latest lineup of MSI gaming devices powered by Windows 10, you can’t help but be impressed by the 4 pounds of everything MSI squeezed into this notebook. Surely 4 pounds isn’t marking it in the “thinnest and lightest” notebook category companies are obsessing about. No, because more importantly, this MSI laptop fits comfortably on a shelf next to the likes of Dell’s XPS 15 or Apple’s MacBook Pro 15. The 4.2 pound, 1080p display measures 14.9 x 9.8 x .69 inches, with a chassis quite smooth and slim, making it one of the slimmest 15-inch gaming laptops on the market. It's black chassis is accompanied by an aluminum-brushed lid, and it’s red and white backlit emblem and side accents give it just enough of that gaming rig style we all know comes with the territory.

What’s inside the Stealth? For processing power, be sure to note Intel’s 6th-gen quad-core i7-6700HQ, which we’ve already heard tons about, along with a good 16GB of DDR4/2133 RAM. Storage is comprised of a 512GB Samsung SM951 SSD, and 1TB hard drive. The graphics card is, as mentioned, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. Not only there to provide a speedy desktop equivalent for the gamer, the MSI GS62VR, as it’s name states, is so catered with the gamer in mind, it is also VR-ready. The healthy set of plugs include a 3.5mm audio in/out, an SD card slot, Ethernet, 3 USB 3.0, and 1 USB 2.0 for fun; then there’s the full-sized HDMI, Mini Display, and Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Carrying a high-powered gaming laptop around does NOT always mean carrying a load of bricks. At 4 pounds, it’s got one of the best graphics cards to date inside, basically the same as a desktop card, but squeezed into a laptop size. This thing is made to pamper the gamer. Doom, Rise of the Colossus, Shadows of Mordor, Tomb Raider, and others are all going to perform at 60fps. This caliber, at this size and sleekness, means MSI did some hard work to get this right.

Downfalls are so small, you'll easily forget about them because, ahem, this is a sleek, 4 pound gaming rig that barely looks different than the notebooks being typed on next to you. Notably, the screen has its issues, as the 4K panel isn’t boasting brightness or contrast, yet it’s right at the acceptable levels. Additionally, battery life isn't so great, and neither is the sound coming out of those speakers. Heck, don’t gamers use headphones? Can we forgive these glitches? Aw yes, because glitches are one thing you aren’t going to have to worry about. And all things considered, this is a one of a kind, svelty gaming rig, so don’t make me spew out the absurdly nice fundamentals of this thing all over again. If you want it, pricing begins at $1,549.99 on Amazon.
