The Porsche brand is a car brand, for sure. But did you know Porsche Design has been making shoes, lighters, watches, and now, its very own phone? If that didn’t surprise you, maybe will the fact that it’s moving into its own computing division! And with that launch, expect to see the highly-crafted (of course) Porsche Design Book One, also being dubbed a “sexy version of the Surface Book”.

The way this is all coming together has to go with Porsche Designs working with Microsoft and Quantas, and as you know, these name drops are no small feat. We should expect something highly functional to accommodate all that exquisiteness the well-known car manufacturer would be employing. These shiny, premium PCs are rumored to be the most beautiful laptop, and at only 15.9mm, it has the sleek aspect down. Dubbed the Porsche Design Computing Book One, this laptop did something different by being the first laptop to have both a 360-degree hinge, and a detachable display. You see, the Book One’s gear-like hinge, that differs so much from the Surface Book’s “complicated” hinge, is also quoted by Porsche to be inspired by “the transmission of a sports car”.

Along with the special hinge comes a gorgeous 13.3-inch QHD display, featuring an incredible resolution of 3,200 x 1,800 pixels. Then, some particularly fancy and powerful internals include an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. On the outside, plenty of ports reside- there’s two USB Type-C ports, two USB 3.0 ports, and even a Thunderbolt 3 to cover all bases. Other than that, there’s of course dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 5MP camera with an infrared sensor for an optional security measure when logging into your Porsche Design Computing Book One.

Whew! What a name this thing comes with! Go big or go home, right? Wouldn’t it be rather strange if something from Porsche wasn’t standing out so proudly? So Porsche, why express your richness with a laptop? It’s nothing to really “do” to prove anything, it’s more like going with the flow of the market. Since computers are now a regular part of our daily living, Porsche Design did good by getting in the game, as it without fail, knows how to help when designing something with beauty. It also is aimed for the folks who could afford something so luxurious. Priced at $2,495, this device is aimed towards certain folks with a sense ($$$) of extravagant style.
