The Huawei Matebook X features a stylish aluminum design (specifically a “microencapsulated phase change material”, making it look and feel like metal), so incredibly impressive with its LCD trim bezel, that it has a 13-inch screen normally seen in a 12-inch laptop. It’s also so thin it manages a 12.5mm body, and a weight of just 2.3 pounds. There’s also an array of other features helping this laptop stand out as something special. Consider the Windows 10 OS. This in itself is a perk for so many consumers who would basically own an Apple product if it weren’t based on the Apple OS (myself included, what about you?).
Additional treats include a collaboration with Dolby Atmos, for laptop speakers that are dressed to impress with great audio, and a power button the doubles as a fingerprint reader for added security. As far as internal hardware, knowing it’s so similar to its Apple competitor, you might have already guessed it’s going to be some of the latest generations available. Hence, its processor includes up to an Intel i7 CPU, accompanied by 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD, with alternative configurations to suit your needs. Besides being described as “fashionably thin”, the Matebook X thinks like a MacBook, working with an ultimate 2K resolution screen, a MateDock for all ports, and handling multitasking like a champ, with over 12 Chrome browser tabs open prior to any sign of slowdown. Battery life is expected to run for 10 hours, and charges quickly over USB Type-C. This could be the project Huawei got itself into at the right time, flexing its design dexterity in the laptop department enough to get noticed as a legit contender to Apple devices. That, my friends, is a big deal.
