Dell Selling First Inspiron Desktop Gaming Rig for $600?

One of Dell’s most notable line of laptops, it’s Inspiron series, has done something different lately by sizing up to desktop monitor status. At the same time, the tech giant is trying to offer gaming devices without such large price tags folks just run away. That means going in a different direction than the high-end Alienware line, and offering something for budget-conscious gamers. Currently showcasing its products at Computex 2017, the Inspiron Gaming Desktop is Dell’s first ever customizable, Windows 10-powered machine ever, with a starting price of $599.

“First ever customizable” means this gaming station starts out as entry-level, but is easily upgraded by the likes of both AMD processor and graphics options. Getting right into the device’s outstanding specs, the Inspiron 27-7775 features a 27-inch screen with two IPS display options. The system will be powered by AMD, with the base configuration offering AMD’s A10 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and an AMD Radeon RX560 GPU.

Whatever the pitch is, Dell has built this machine to be upgraded, and that could surely change this perception of “entry-level” faster than lightning. For example, the Inspiron Gaming Desktop processor bumps right up to a Ryzen 7, accompanied by 32GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, and an SSD boot drive. More upgrades include liquid cooling rather than a fan, and those flashy pretty lights (a.k.a Polar Blue LEDs) so you can see internal components through its transparent front. Of course, that illumination is almost always indicative of a gaming rig, right there.

Configurations such as that haven’t been provided with exact price tags yet, but The Verge was told during a briefing that with these tempting upgrades, it’s easy to expect pricing to reach as high as $2,000. Yep. Weren’t you reading this article because you just read the title, “Dell Selling First Inspiron Desktop Gaming Rig for $600”? Are you now disappointed, or could there be plenty of gamers sufficed with the initial spec list? There’s a lack of complete coherence behind Dell’s pricing, still, this new rig has the potential to target a variety of consumers with its various price points. Not only do customers have a choice from five processors from AMD, but the rest of the hardware and specs depend greatly on the choice of processor; specifically, the Ryzen CPU processor or A-Series APU CPU. These are most definitely enough for some serious virtual reality gaming sessions (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift).

Lastly, other features include, but of course depend on the chosen model: USB 2.0 Type-A ports, USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A ports, HDMI ports, gigabit Ethernet, audio combo jacks, SD card readers, microphone ports, Bluetooth 4.1 and wireless AC connectivity. The entire rig weighs between 22 and 30 pounds, and besides Windows 10, comes pre-installed with various Dell backup and security, as well as Microsoft Office, and McAfee LiveSafe. The desktop became available just a few days ago, on May 30th, and, if we are being honest, has a more realistic starting price of $1,000, not $600.
