Most of our orders are from repeat customers. Parts-People began as a small company 20 years ago in an extra bedroom of my house. I had saved a small sum of money to purchase some computer parts and began selling them on eBay. After a few months I realized that people needed a place to go for Dell parts so I began building our website. Since we are located in Austin, Texas, where Dell.com was founded, I was able to set up a solid supply line with Dell. From the start, we focused on customer satisfaction and selling quality parts. We have grown a lot since 2002 but still and always the customer will come first. You will find that we go above and beyond with every order and offer free resources and support before and after the sale.
20 years in business
over 2 million Dell parts sold
While usual discussion on our Parts-People blog involves some of the most prevailing brand names in the tech industry to date, with some of the most popular models including many Dell laptops, like the many XPS (particularly the “jack of all trades”, XPS 15 9560), Inspiron and Latitude brands. Other times, the smaller, lesser-known or, not known at all, tech companies have their name in the news and it’s worth talking about. Today, in discussing the OEM/ODM computer manufacturer, Clevo, it’s good to know what this tech company does, Clevo produces laptops under their exclusive brand, but they also distribute their own barebone laptop chassis to resellers like AfterShock PC, Powerturtle, and Origin PC, who customize them on their own.
Clevo has been in the news because their new 17-inch gaming laptop, the P870TM, a well-equipped, Intel powered laptop is one of three brand new laptops the company has announced. All powered by the recently released Coffee Lake-S processor, the flagship laptop, P870TM, is accompanied by two other brother models, the P775TM and P751TM. Only going into the specifics of the first model, all three share the same CPU processors, however, GPU options differ for everyone involved.
As it depends on the level of gaming you are reaching for, the P870TM replacing last year’s model, the P870KM, has some of the latest hardware available. Intel’s incoming Core i7-8700K chips are already being featured with high benchmarks, including a 45 percent increase in a multi-thread performance when compared to Clevo’s previous gen laptop, which sported the Kaby Lake-S Core i7-7700K. There’s also this little tidbit of information, where Intel has reported these chips as the “best gaming desktop processors, ever”, so, those multi-threaded benchmark numbers have to be at least close to the general consensus. Considering the lesser-known name, we’ll see what type of crowd becomes a fan of these new Clevo laptops in the coming months.
Both the processor and graphics cards are overclockable, with added support for Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) up to 3,000MHz. Graphic options include Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080, VR-ready, at 8GB. Also dressed to impress, these cards show good performance, and good overclocking, in both single and SLI configurations. In addition to that, that 17.3-inch LCD screen supports 4K, FHD, and Nvidia G-SYNC. This is accompanied by a maximum capacity of 64GB of RAM, a 250GB of M.2 SSD, up to 1TB of HDD.
Lastly, there is integrated “Killer GbE” Ethernet and Wi-Fi, high-res headphone audio, and a built-in subwoofer speaker combination. As mentioned previously, Clevo will distribute their new gaming laptops from their own website, but other resellers also sell Clevo’s products, so expect the P870TM to be sold from companies such as Eurocom, Sager, Origin PC, and many more.
