Installation and Removal Instructions
Precision 7670 Motherboard
Step 1
- Before you begin: If you need help at any point, you can always contact Parts-People Laptop Repair Department for help with your diagnosis or repair.
Step 2
- Use a Phillips Screwdriver to loosen the Bottom Base Cover screws (6 x captive screws).
- Use a Plastic Scribe to pry apart and remove the Bottom Base Cover.
Step 3
- Disconnect the Battery.
Step 4
- Unscrew and remove the Battery (3 x 2mm x 7mm).
Step 5
- Slide the release latch to unlock your primary SSD.
- Unscrew and slide out the primary SSD (2 x 2mm x 2.5mm).
Step 6
- Remove the primary SSD frame.
Step 9
- Disconnect the cooling fan cables.
- Unscrew and remove the Heatsink Cooling Fan Assembly (4 x M2 x 5mm) (4 x captive screws).
Step 10
- Disconnect and unroute the speaker cable.
Step 12
- Unclip the locking tab to unlatch and disconnect the Power Button cable.
Step 13
- Unclip the locking tab to unlatch and disconnect the SD Card Reader cable.
Step 14
- Unclip the locking tab to unlatch and disconnect the Daughter Board cable.
Step 15
- Unclip the locking tab to unlatch and disconnect the Touchpad cable.
Step 16
- Unscrew and remove the WWAN brackets (1 x captive screws) (1 x M2 x 3mm).
- Disconnect the antenna cables.
Step 17
- Remove the protective shield from the WWAN Card.
- Slide out the WWAN Card.
Step 19
- Unclip the locking tab to unlatch and disconnect the LCD cable.
Step 20
- Disconnect the DC Jack Power Adapter cable.
Step 22
- Unscrew and remove the PCB Beam Connectors (4 x M2 x 6mm).
Step 23
- Unscrew and then turn over the Motherboard (7 x M2 x 5mm) (2 x 2mm x 3.5mm).
- Disconnect the CMOS Battery,
Step 24
- ***BEFORE REINSTALLING YOUR HEATSINK: Completely wipe off the old thermal paste from the processor.
Step 25
- Then completely wipe away any old thermal paste from the heatsink.
Step 26
- Apply a small amount of new thermal paste (slightly smaller than the size of a pea) on the processor.
- ***THE REMAINING REINSTALLATION PROCESS IS AS SIMPLE AS FOLLOWING THE DISASSEMBLY STEPS IN REVERSE.
