Installation and Removal Instructions
Latitude 5430 Motherboard
Step 1
- Before you begin: If you need help at any point, you can always contact Parts-People Motherboard Repair Department for help with your diagnosis or repair.
Step 2
- Unscrew the Bottom Base Cover (8 x captive screws).
- Use a plastic scribe to pry apart and remove the Bottom Base Cover.
Step 3
- Disconnect the battery cable.
Step 5
- To remove the 2230 SSD: Unscrew and remove the thermal plate and 2230 SSD (3 x M2 x 3mm).Unscrew and remove the M.2 2230 SSD (1 x M2 x 3mm).
Step 6
- To remove the 2280 SSD: Unscrew and remove the thermal plate and 2280 SSD (2 x M2 x 3mm).Unscrew and remove the M.2 2280 SSD (1 x M2 x 3mm).
Step 7
- Unscrew and remove the WiFi bracket (1 x 2mm x 2.5mm).
- Disconnect the WiFi antennas.
- Slide out the WiFi Card.
Step 8
- Unclip the locking tab to disconnect the LED cable.
Step 9
- Disconnect the Speakers.
Step 12
- Disconnect and remove the CMOS Battery.
Step 14
- Unclip the locking tabs and disconnect the motherboard cables.
Step 15
- Disconnect the fingerprint reader.
Step 16
- Disconnect the cooling fan cable.
- Unscrew the cooling fan (2 x M2 x 5mm).
- Loosen the heatsink screws (4 x captive screws).
- Remove the Heatsink Fan Assembly.
Step 18
- BEFORE REPLACING HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink.
- ***NOTE: Make sure to not touch the heat transfer areas on the heatsink and processors. The oils on your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal paste.
Step 19
- Apply a small amount of new thermal paste to the processors.
- ***FOLLOW THE ORIGINAL STEPS IN REVERSE TO REASSEMBLE YOUR LAPTOP.
