Installation and Removal Instructions
G16 7630 Heatsink
Step 1
- Before you begin: If you need help at any point, you can always contact Parts-People Repair Department for help with your diagnosis or repair.
Step 2
- Unscrew the bottom base cover (6 x M2 x 5mm) (4 x captive screws).
- Use a plastic scribe to separate and remove the Bottom Base Cover.
Step 3
- Disconnect the battery cable.
Step 8
- Unscrew and remove the antenna bracket (1 x M2 x 4mm).
- Disconnect the antenna cables.
- Slide out the Wireless/WiFi Card.
Step 10
- Disconnect the DC Jack.
Step 11
- Disconnect the speaker cable.
Step 12
- Disconnect the left and right Cooling Fans.
Step 13
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the USB cable.
Step 14
- Peel away the adhesive cover.
- Unclip the locking tab and disconnect the LCD cable.
- Disconnect the Dynamic Display Switch (DDS) cable.
Step 15
- Unclip the locking tab and disconnect the touchpad cable.
- Unclip the locking tab and disconnect the keyboard cable.
Step 16
- Unscrew the Motherboard, USB Circuit Board, and Ethernet Board and then turn over the Motherboard (7 x M2 x 5mm) (2 x M2 x 3mm) (1 x M2 x 4mm).
Step 17
- Unscrew and remove the Heatsink (7 x captive screws).
Step 18
- BEFORE REPLACING HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink.
- ***NOTE: Make sure to not touch the heat transfer areas on the heatsink and processors. The oils on your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal paste.
Step 19
- Apply a small amount of new thermal paste to the processors.
- Replace the heatsink.
- ***FOLLOW THE ORIGINAL STEPS IN REVERSE TO REASSEMBLE YOUR LAPTOP.
