In this Dell laptop tutorial we are going to show you how to install and replace the Motherboard on your Dell G3 15 (3500) laptop. TOOLS FOR THIS REPAIR: Phillips #0 Screwdriver and a Plastic Scribe.
Unscrew the bottom base cover (6 X 2mm x 7mm) (4 X captive screws).
Pry apart and remove the Bottom Base Cover.

Step 3

Disconnect the Battery Cable.

Unscrew and remove the antenna bracket (1 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 4

Unscrew and remove the antenna bracket (1 x M2 x 3mm).
Disconnect the antenna cables.
Slide out the Wireless/WiFi Card.

Step 5

Disconnect the LCD cable.

Unscrew and remove the SSD bracket (2 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 6

Unscrew and remove the SSD bracket (2 x M2 x 3mm).
Slide out the M.2 NVMe SSD.

Unsnap the locking tab and then disconnect the hard drive cable.

Step 7

Unsnap the locking tab and then disconnect the hard drive cable.
Unscrew and remove the hard drive and caddy (3 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 8

Disconnect the speakers.

Unscrew and remove the Battery: 3-Cell Battery (2 x

Unscrew and remove the Battery: 3-Cell Battery (2 x M2 x 3mm), 4-Cell Battery (3 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 10

Peel away the adhesive cover.
Disconnect the DC jack cable.

Unscrew the right cooling fan (2 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 11

Unscrew the right cooling fan (2 x M2 x 3mm).
Disconnect and remove the Right Cooling Fan.

Unscrew the left cooling fan (2 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 12

Unscrew the left cooling fan (2 x M2 x 3mm).
Disconnect and remove the Left Cooling Fan.

Unsnap the locking tab and disconnect the I/O board cable.

Step 13

Unsnap the locking tab and disconnect the I/O board cable.

Unsnap the locking tab and disconnect the keyboard cables.

Step 14

Unsnap the locking tab and disconnect the keyboard cables.

Unsnap the locking tab and disconnect the touchpad cable.

Step 15

Unsnap the locking tab and disconnect the touchpad cable.

Unscrew and remove the Heatsink (8 X captive screws).

Step 16

Unscrew and remove the Heatsink (8 X captive screws).

Step 17

Unscrew and remove the Motherboard (1 x M2 x 2mm).

BEFORE REPLACING HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink.

***NOTE: Make sure to not touch the heat transfer areas on the heatsink and processors. The oils on your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal paste.
