Installation and Removal Instructions
Dell G15 (5530) Heatsink Fan Assembly
Step 1
- Before you begin: If you need help at any point, you can always contact Parts-People Repair Department for help with your diagnosis or repair.
Step 2
- TOOLS FOR THIS REPAIR: Phillips #0 Screwdriver and a Plastic Scribe.
- Unscrew the bottom base cover (6 x M2 x 5mm) (4 X captive screws).
- Pry apart and remove the Bottom Base.
Step 3
- Disconnect the Battery Cable.

- Unscrew and remove the thermal bracket from SSD slot 1 (2 x M2 x 4mm).
- Slide out the M.2 NVMe SSD.
Step 7
- Unscrew and remove the thermal bracket from SSD slot 2 (2 x M2 x 4mm).
- Slide out the M.2 NVMe SSD.
Step 9
- Peel back the adhesive covering the LCD cable connector.
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the LCD cables.
Step 11
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the keyboard cable.
Step 12
- If you have a single-color keyboard, unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the backlight cable.
- OR, if you have a four-color keyboard, unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the keyboard controller cable.
Step 13
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the touchpad cable.
Step 15
- Disconnect the speaker cable.
Step 16
- Disconnect the heatsink fan cables.
Step 19
- BEFORE REPLACING HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink.
- ***NOTE: Make sure to not touch the heat transfer areas on the heatsink and processors. The oils on your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal paste.
Step 20
- Apply a small amount of new thermal paste to the processors.
- Replace the heatsink.
- ***FOLLOW THE ORIGINAL STEPS IN REVERSE TO REASSEMBLE YOUR LAPTOP.
