Step 1

TOOLS FOR THIS REPAIR: Phillips #0 & T5 Torx Screwdrivers and a

Unscrew the LCD cable and bracket (2 X 1.6mm x 4mm) (2 X 1.6mm x 3.5mm).

  • Unscrew the LCD cable and bracket (2 X 1.6mm x 4mm) (2 X 1.6mm x 3.5mm).

Remove the interposer board. Hold it by the edges to protect the interposer pins as they are fragile.

Unscrew the left and right LCD hinges (6 X 2.5mm x 5.5mm).

Step 8

  • Unscrew the left and right LCD hinges (6 X 2.5mm x 5.5mm).
  • Unfold the LCD Display Assembly and separate it from the palmrest.

Unscrew and remove the WiFi bracket (1 X captive screws).

Step 9

  • Unscrew and remove the WiFi bracket (1 X captive screws).
  • Disconnect the antenna cables.

Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the touchpad cable.

Step 10

  • Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the touchpad cable.

Step 11

  • Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the power button cable.

Unclip the locking tabs and then disconnect the left and right cooling fan cables.

Step 12

  • Unclip the locking tabs and then disconnect the left and right cooling fan cables.

Unscrew the left and right cooling fans (4 X 1.6mm x 3mm).

Step 13

  • Unscrew the left and right cooling fans (4 X 1.6mm x 3mm).
  • Unscrew and remove the Motherboard (11 x M1.6 x 3.5mm).

Unscrew and remove the Heatsink.

Step 14

  • Unscrew and remove the Heatsink.
  • -INTEGRATED GRAPHICS (3 X Captive Screws)
  • -DISCRETE GRAPHICS (5 X Captive Screws)

BEFORE REPLACING HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink.

Step 15

  • BEFORE REPLACING HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink.
  • ***NOTE: Make sure to not touch the heat transfer areas on the heatsink and processors. The oils on your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal paste.

Apply a small amount of new thermal paste to the CPU.

Step 16
